About Ajmer

Know Briefly About Ajmer Singh

I had the opportunity to migrate to Canada with my parents and siblings in 1983. We landed in Montreal and drove to the City of Waterloo in my brother’s car. Though I could barely speak English or French, I was determined to overcome the challenges to adjust to my new surroundings. As a new immigrant, there were various challenges, but the City of Waterloo provided us with endless opportunities to make this as our home. I went to Waterloo Collegiate and Bluevale Collegiate and graduated with a high school diploma in 1988. In 1992, I completed my Business Administration studies from Conestoga College. During my school years, I worked hard at various part-time jobs to support my studies and to help my family.

In 1990, while still studying, I applied my educational training to start our family small business located on Courtland Avenue in Kitchener. After 34 years of hard work, we expanded our business to three locations in Kitchener and Waterloo employing over 50 hardworking local residents and trained many to pursue their dreams. While continuing to be actively involved with Onkar Foods, I started my Paralegal practice after completing Paralegal Studies from Humber College in 2011.

I firmly believe in family values and fiscal responsibilities. Being a father of four children and blessed with a large extended family, I understand the general concerns of an ordinary citizen. The fear for personal safety, rising violence, drugs issues in our schools, and violence against women, are very close to my heart that requires our special attention.

Journey

My Journey - My Inspiration - My Success

From April 1983 to August 2024, my journey has been both challenging and joyful. Throughout these years, I have been blessed with a caring wife, four beautiful children, and an extended family, all of whom reside in the Region of Waterloo.

Over the past 34 years, I have successfully established and managed a Retail Grocery Business with multiple locations in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. This venture has allowed me to serve the community’s needs and create employment opportunities for numerous residents.

As a Paralegal Professional, I have successfully represented and assisted thousands of clients from diverse cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds. These experiences have broadened my awareness of sensitive issues and concerns within various communities, enabling me to make sound decisions and take a balanced approach.

Fluent in English, Punjabi, and Hindi, and with the ability to understand and speak Urdu, I am well-equipped to engage in positive and fruitful conversations with the multicultural society of Waterloo. This linguistic proficiency allows me to discuss and address the concerns of a wide range of community members.

I firmly believe in social service and community programs. Over the years, I have served as a Board Member with Neighbourhood Watch and worked with the Crime Prevention Council of Waterloo Region. My commitment to community service extends to my involvement with non-profit organizations, where I have worked closely with the Region of Waterloo Food Bank and similar initiatives.

Additionally, my close work with organizations focused on drug prevention, as well as supporting social and sports activities and clubs, has deepened my understanding of the concerns of parents and ordinary citizens. This ongoing engagement with the community has been a significant part of my journey.

Know My People

My Community

Canada is a multicultural society and embraces members from all over the world with their unique experiences, traditions and beliefs, and make major contributions to the great Canadian values. The Region of Waterloo has been a pioneer in accepting the new immigrants from all over the world to make this region their future home. In particular, the City of Waterloo is one of the fastest growing communities in Canada, our city needs people like me who are aware of the cultural sensitivities and diversities, and respect Canadian values.

I firmly believe in neighborhood community programs. Informed community is an engaged community. I pledge to hold regular town hall meetings with the neighborhood associations and/or committees to discuss any issues and share updates from Ottawa.
